It’s July.
My trip to Switzerland has been planned and that means one thing: photography season has started.
Last year, I brought my camera for the first time.
That was the Canon EOS M50 II. 📷
I only had some kit lenses attached to it, but I really enjoyed using a DSLR for the first time on a vacation.
These are some of the shots of Zermatt 🇨🇭:

When I took them I didn’t realise, but they turned out really cool.
Just like this vintage looking photo of the waterside in Montreux near the Chateau de Chillon.
But this year I’ve done a proper upgrade.
I’m now using the Canon EOS R8 - a full frame camera with a 24MP sensor.
And so far, it’s been an amazing camera.
It’s fast, sharp, lightweight.
Basically, the R8 is the R6 II, but then the budget version and way lighter!
The lenses I’m using on it are the RF24-105mm F4 L and the RF5mm F1.8 prime lense.
Here are some of the shots I already took with it:

You can find these images on my Instagram as well: @bryandijkh.
I really like the last one of the vending machine. I took that one with the 50mm prime lens and because of the low aperture, I could get it sharp in low light - that’s what I love about that cheap but amazing lens.
You should get it if you need a 50mm lens.
Or if you’re using the EF system of canon you can get this version of that same lens, also proving to be an amazing lens for years.
Next Trip: Hiking in the Swiss Mountains 🇨🇭🏔️
For our next trip,
and I are going to do 2 hikes:The Eiger Trail from up the Eigergletscher down to the cute town of Grindelwald.
Hike from Mürren to Wengen via Lauterbrunnen.
That first one, we’ve done half last year. We then hiked from up the Eigergletscher station to Alpiglen, then took the train back to Grindelwald.
But that second one, never done it.
It looks amazing and we’d always wanted to return to Lauterbrunnen as it’s an amazing little village in the middle of Switzerland.
Here are some pictures of Lauterbrunnen from 2022 (that I shot on my iPhone):

Beautiful isnt it?
I’ll keep you updated about our hikes and don’t forget to follow me Substack Notes, if you’re not already doing that for more!
