4 Quotes That Will Dramatically Change The Way You See Your Life
Change your perspective on life.
By reading these quotes and applying certain elements of them, you’re laying a foundation for building more awareness. Once you start enjoying this analysis of life, things are getting better.
All of these quotes will be from books in the philosophy/self-help domain and they will make you think about certain things.
Usually, I’m not very fond of quotes and their cringy status on social media, but some of them have very useful cores that apply to almost every single one of us.
Let’s get started.
It all comes down to you and your relationships
“The courage to be happy also includes the courage to be disliked. When you have gained that courage, your interpersonal relationships will all at once change into things of lightness.” — Ichiro Kishimi
The issues that you have in your life only exist in your head and within your relationships.
If you’re hurt by somebody that will be a bump in your relationship with that person and nothing more. If you could transform that feeling into something else (positive), the problem would fade away.
That proves that everything comes down to you and your relationships.
Another great example is the lack of confidence that’s been spreading around our society for the last couple of decades — that wouldn’t exist if there weren’t other people around.
Change your perspective
“A cat’s eyes are windows that show us another world” — Stéphane Garnier
After I read Garnier's book, my perspective on life changed. Cats have a lifestyle that’s so much more relaxed than ours. They don’t care about the bills they have to pay or whether they’re going to be nice or not.
Cat’s don’t care.
That’s my whole point about changing your perspective. Ask yourself the following question.
Why would you do it?
This can apply in any kind of situation and if the answer is “I don’t want to do it”. You should consider if you really should do it.
Life is also about you
“The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.” — Ernest Hemingway
Lots of people tend to put others above themselves.
I think I am that kind of person. If you recognize the following, keep reading. It’s about trying to please other people no matter what.
Isn’t that exactly what’s wrong with today’s society?
Overloading ourselves is the worst thing you can do, but as it seems, we all do it every single day. At work, in our personal relationships, and in many other places.
It costs a lot of energy to do that. Instead, focus on yourself and what makes you happy and lets you grow.
If you’re an enemy of yourself, you don’t need other people to break you down.
You’ll always suffer in life, make sure to have a plan
“Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.” — Paulo Coelho
Once you realize life is nothing but suffering, you can build your plan.
Building a plan to overcome this pain is needed in 2022. Not everything is taken for granted anymore. You will need to develop and grow yourself until you reach a point where you can be independent when needed.
If you don’t know what to do, everything will be a drag for you.
Do you know the feeling of texting somebody that just wouldn’t respond to you? It’s so annoying.
That’s how it feels like to live a life without a plan.
Final thoughts & takeaways
People’s words can have a massive impact on our lives.
That’s how quotes about life work. We tend to like them because they reflect a certain situation that we relate to. It’s nothing more than when you’re watching TV or a movie and you recognize yourself in a character and feel better afterward.
But don’t try to 100% mirror these quotes. They could be guides but never rules.
They should make us happier.
“The purpose of our lives is to be happy” — Dalai Lama
